This one brings together Tyler, the skinny, impish, and now reformed teenage who first appeared in "Hit or Miss, to Kill or Kiss" (Book 2 of the series) with Nathaniel, who is a part of Port Dale's triumvirate of power families first introduced to us in "Drawing the Doctor" (Book 3).Aside from an ongoing presence of Blair Atkins from the latter book, who seems to be the den mother of the gay men in that crowd, no one from that book appears in this one.But, wow, Elliott and Clay from Book 2 are here in their continued glory, six years after we first met Tyler, who is now a tall blond bisexual hunk home from college for the summer--and home is Elliott and Clay's house.Tyler was just dissed by the only real girlfriend he ever had back on campus. So he decides to take a chance by visiting the local gay club one night and is having a crummy time until he accidentally bumps into someone dumping his soft drink all over the guy who, of course, turns out to be Nathaniel.We've been introduced to Nathaniel already and it is not pleasant. He was summoned home from college in the East by his deeply controlling and homophobic father and is only in the bar because of subterfuge by one of his supposed handlers.When Nathaniel looks up into the face of the taller Tyler (perfect cover, BTW), both of them stare in shock: They were best friends-heading-to-boyfriends in high school until caught by one of Nathaniel's handlers. The result was his father shipping him East before he and Tyler could settle things.Now, there's a chance to try to settle but these are a host of issues that both have to overcome. These include the intense scrutiny of Nathaniel's life by his father, and a budding kidnapping plot that brings into play the particularly effective, if somewhat violent and nasty, skills of Elliott and especially Clay.What a ride this becomes--this is a terrifically exciting book with all sorts of wacky twists and turns but in the end a super excursion into the lives and loves of the men of Port Dale. Bravo!
